We watched a video presentation about the "Nothing But Nets" campaign. Afterwards the speaker for World Malaria Day (which is today) told us that the amount on the screen was a lie... "Nothing But Nets" has raised over 20 Million dollars!
He then left the podium, walked through the crowd, and told us about his daughter who just recently celebrated her 24th birthday. He shared about how while he was thinking about growing up with her, the phone rang. It was that day that he learned that one of his colleagues daughters had died of malaria..on the day of his daughter's 24th birthday. He shared how later when he arrived here that he apologized to him (the Bishop) for thinking of Disneyland and other material things for 24 years, but not thinking about diseases such as malaria... powerful story.
Then he took a $10 bill and placed it on the table. He then reminded us that it only takes $10 to buy a net.... Afterwards, we watched as the table in the middle (which just hours earlier had served us communion) became a place to place offering and net money. I will post pictures later...
